Product Care
Our lacquerware pieces are crafted with precision, heart, and heritage — from hand-applied gold foils to detailed hand-painting by skilled artisans.
Designed to last and to be cherished, your Qua pieces will remain beautiful for years to come with a little care.
- Cleaning
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth or slightly damp microfibre cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners, alcohol, or abrasive materials, which may damage the lacquer coating. Do not soak in water or place under running water. For oils, use a drop of mild, pH-neutral dish soap on a soft sponge. Rinse quickly, then dry immediately with a soft towel. No dishwasher, microwave, oven, or freezer. - Odour Removal
The smell of newly finished lacquer may be noticeable upon unboxing, but will naturally fade with use. While it is not harmful, we understand if you prefer the smell to dissipate more quickly. You can also place any of these dried goods in small quantities inside your lacquerware for a few days to remove the smell: dry coffee, tea leaves, baking soda or charcoal.
- Storage & Display
Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Avoid high humidity areas which may affect the lacquer surface. If storing for a long time, wrap in soft cloth or tissue paper to prevent scratches. - Handling
Handle with clean, dry hands to prevent oils or moisture from affecting the surface. Do not stack lacquerware pieces directly on top of each other without a protective layer in between; when stacking bowls or plates, place a soft cloth or tissue between pieces to prevent micro-scratches. - Serving & Temperature
Best for dry or lightly moist foods (nuts, snacks, bread, salads without heavy acidity). Keep to room temperature or gently warm foods; avoid piping hot items and boiling liquids. Avoid prolonged contact with alcohol and acidic foods (vinegar, citrus, tomatoes). Avoid sharp or metal cutlery and never cut directly on lacquer surfaces.
EXTRA TIPS:
- If your piece has gold or silver foil detailing, avoid rubbing the surface vigorously — it is delicately layered for a shimmery, elegant finish.
- For boxes with hinges or compartments, open and close gently to ensure longevity.
