Zodiac Collection
The Chinese way of measuring time includes using 10 Heavenly Stems ("天干" Tian Gan), and 12 Earthly Branches (地支 Di Zhi). The signs are used to designate the time period (時辰 Shi Chen, which are 2 hour intervals of our usual time), days, months and years. It is believed that our innate characters are defined by the years which we are born in, represented by the 12 zodiac animals — much like astrology signs. In this collection, Qua presents a series of red and black lacquerware with Chinese calligraphy characters that hide details of the animals; as well as a set of intricate and colourful metal trinkets.
